If you want a book that answers all of the why's of human behavior, this book is it. It covers everything from dialation of the eyes to how we ward off someone in our personal space. This book is a good source for those studying human behavior, as well as those who are more interested in the nonverbal communication of humans. I read the book almost five years ago, and the information is still clear in my mind. Well written and concise, this book is interesting as well as educational.

This book will give you a good idea on basic Buddhism. Some of the pictures are cheesy but if you can overlook that, it is well written. I would not recommend this for someone who has been Buddhist for many years, but it is a good introduction for beginners and people seeking to gain a better idea of what Buddhism is about.

Good, succinct presentation of basic Buddhist ideas and ethics: the Three Jewels, Eightfold Path, Six Perfections, Karma, Mindfulness, etc. i have given away several copies to friends interested in learning about Buddhism without listening to me talk.

Bruce Rogers' work as a broadcast journalist has been seen on CBC Television, TVOntario, The Knowledge Net, and Global Television. Ribbons of Moonlight

What a wonderful surprise - not the typical historical romance. Characters and settings are well-developed with a believable time-travel element. You love the characters you are supposed to love and really despise the characters you are supposed to hate. There are definately surprising and sad moments alogn the journey that keep you reading. While the ending is well-done, it kept me wanting to know more - like when is a sequel coming out?

Could NOT Put it Down!

What a terrific read! I was thrown back into a time when men ruled every aspect of life and women had to put up with whatever was thrown at them. Emma as a modern woman just was not going to stand for that! The time element was portrayed as possible. The setting was true to the historical time. It was a compelling tale that wrapped the reader into a world where passion and compassion were a vital part of each character. The hero was sharp as a whip and just as stunning! The supporting characters were so vital that I felt for their trials. The villain was EVIL! His lackeys were meant to be hated. I was left wanting to know what happened next. I can't wait for the sequel!

Characters who know what they want!

No wishy washy characters with pages of misunderstandings and miscommunications in this wonderful historical romance. The characters are willing to talk with each other and not let things fester for pages so the reader feels like shouting "Just TALK already!" You really do care about the characters and feel their anxiety and sorrow. Emma is a modern woman, but one who recognizes the shortcomings of her very 21st century education suddenly thrust into 18th century, but she's willing to make her way. She won't let Connor run her life and he is willing to have faith in her own ability. Sometimes a little challenge can be sexy for this 18th century man. A great read!

Fascinating & so well-written

It’s obvious a lot of research & hard work has been put into writing this book, but the author presents it in the most fascinating & comprehensible way possible. And powerfully too: Weintraub integrates her own family experience with cancer. Yet the message throughout is positive & hopeful. Who knew pet dogs (& cats too) are playing such an important role in helping researchers & doctors learn more about treating & curing so many different cancers in both animals & humans? Now we do.

Tracking new methods of cancer research

Cancers have become so prevalent that nearly everyone has been touched by the loss of a loved one, friend or beloved pet. A diagnosis of any sort of cancer still evokes intense feelings regardless of significant medical advances or treatments available.

Arlene Weintraub wrote Heal: The Vital Role of Dogs in the Search for Cancer Cures in response to the loss of her sister to gastric cancer. In the wake of her sister's death, she became preoccupied with unanswered questions. The result is this informative book about the latest in cancer research and dogs. Because of Ms. Weintraub's personal motivation in writing this book, we may all benefit from the knowledge she gained. Her writing about complex medical research is accessible and aided greatly by her background as a published science journalist.

The author brings to light several aspects of the field of comparative oncology and helps explain how clinical trials using pet dogs will reduce the need to use lab animals for medical research. Comparative oncology involves the use of experimental drugs that are actually designed to improve the lives of the animals. These valuable participants get top-of-the-line treatment while contributing to research that may lead to new cures for cancer. The author profiles the stories of some of the dogs and their people who contributed to the ground-breaking studies that began in 2001 at UC Davis. There is fascinating detail about the medical research of this period and the challenges of getting funding for new drugs and bringing them to market. At the end of the book there are numerous resources on various foundations for further information.

This book would appeal to people interested in the technical aspects of on-going cancer research both in humans and dogs. I was also drawn into the parts of the narrative that touched on the shared human feelings of love and loss due to these all too prevalent diseases. I was left wondering if the author would write a memoir giving an in-depth look at her own experiences that would no doubt have as much an impact as this book.

You picked some great solos. Some of what I have found is ...

I have just started learning some of the solos in your book. You picked some great solos. Some of what I have found is dead on in the tab but the 5th bar in the "All the things you are" Tal Farlow solo has some wrong notes that bar starts with a e flat note and not a c, it goes from e flat to f to a flat to c and to b flat and to g, measures 6 and 7 are dead on. I doubt this was the author's fault. It takes a lot of skill to transcribe these solos. I do not know if there are other mistakes in the book because I have not studied it long enough yet. No matter what this is a great tool for learning these solos for the rest of us who have day jobs and cannot transcribe all these solos.
