Original! What makes a monster? Can love truly make to live?

My thoughts:

It took me awhile to get into the story. It is nicely written and interesting. I love the issues that run through the book and that the author was so insightful to offer such ideas in a vampire story, very original. This is the first vampire book I have read that brings racism into the plot, that and revenge drive Gregory to hunt Cornelius. To balance out the monster that is Gregory, the autor brings the reader love as the driving force for Cornelius and Rita.

At the very start of the book, I wasn't sure if I truly loved Cornelius as a character. I had a hard time with the fact that he had to kill to feed - just because it's different from most vampire stories. But, as I read the story I found myself completely investing in Cornelius. He is a carefully, thoughtfully created character who spans centuries with his ideas, ideals, and theories. He is noble, compassionate and kind. In contrast, Gregory is the very ipitmy of a heartless, thoughtless, vicious monster. I love the twist with Gregory at the end.

I liked Rita's character from the start, but wonder at how rapidly she falls for Cornelius considering how much he warns her against it. Her dedication to Cornelius and her desire to protect and be with him are heartwarming.

The book ends with an creative twist and I can't wait to start the next book in the series, Vampyre 2000: Ill of the Dead.

Simply: READ THIS BOOK!

Well crafted and fast paced, I sincerely found VAMPYRE 2000 difficult to put down. Deeper in the story lies a subtle subtext that racism, bigotry, and revenge are really what makes one a monster. Likewise, the story suggests that love is what truly makes one "alive." Happily, the story speaks to all readers, while pleasing genre lovers as well. Thanks for sharing with all of us, Chris. I can't wait for more!

i love this book

As a beginner, i love this book. Like all For Dummies, very cool, very well written, nice pace and extremely informative. I almost bought Guitar for Dummies and Rock Guitar for Dummies, but saw this 6-in-1 for less than the price of those two. I have started Guitar, Rock and Theory... they couldn't be more motivational if you are interested in the big picture of what the guitar is all about. Great book.

My only complaint is that it'd be nice if it was spiral bound and sat flat...

GREAT Reference Tool

A lot of book for a little money. It is easy to get over your head trying to read this one. Definitely covers everything but you have to find the right place to look. Great for learning theory but not very practical to lay on a table or music stand and try to read while holding a guitar, trying to practice and learn. Hal Leonard has much better books for beginners to learn from but this is a great reference that I will use for a long time as I continue to learn the guitar.

This is not just one book, it's six Guitar for Dummies books all packaged in one book. If you know nothing about playing guitar, this will get you going. If you know how to play but you would like to expand your repertoire and learn some other styles, this is the book you need. If you want to dive into music theory to better learn the craft of songwriting, this book will do the trick. If you don't play guitar and don't want to learn but you think guitars are kind of neat....well, there are some pictures in here you might like to look at. Basically, I can't think of too many people who wouldn't find something useful in this book.

About the Author
Robert Dueck received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, and worked for several years as a design engineer at Motorola Canada in Toronto. He began teaching in 1986, specializing in digital and microcomputer subjects in the Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology programs at Seneca College in Toronto. His first book, Fundamentals of Digital Electronics, was published in 1994, and he has written several additional textbooks. He now teaches digital electronics and related courses at Red River College in Winnipeg. Mr. Dueck is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba (APEGM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He served as chair of the Winnipeg Section of IEEE in 2002 and was branch counselor of the Red River College Student Branch from 1997-2006.

Ken Reid received his B.S. degree in computer and electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1988 and his M.S.E.E. degree in 1994 from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He was also one of the first in the nation to receive his Ph.D. in engineering education from Purdue University in 2009. Prior to beginning his teaching career in 1996, he worked for the U.S. Navy in electronics manufacturing research. In addition to publishing and presenting in the field, Dr. Reid has extensive experience in teaching digital electronics and computer programming, and he is currently Director of Freshman Engineering at Ohio Northern University. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is active in the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).
