"I have been using the third edition of Bryan Manly’s "Multivariate Statistical Methods" in my graduate class on System Analysis for the last three years. Personally, I like this book and I advise my students to continue using it, even after the course is over, as it serves as a compact guide to multivariate statistics. It is a short textbook, but it still nicely covers a variety of different and difficult topics, and it demonstrates the many possible approaches to solving a given problem. The book is quite well organized; it includes some necessary mathematical background such as linear algebra, but also good examples and different sets of interesting data which are used to illustrate different methods. Later these sets are needed to solve problems, which could be used by students to assist their homework assignments. I am looking forward to using this new and improved edition of the book in my courses!"�

About the Author
Stephen Haag is the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Director of the MBA program in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. �Prior to being Associate Dean, Stephen served as Chair of the Department of Information Technology and Electronic Commerce in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. �Stephen holds a B.B.A. and M.B.A. from West Texas State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. �Stephen has been teaching in the classroom since 1982 and publishing books since 1984.
Stephen is the coauthor of numerous books including "Interactions: Teaching English as a Second Language" (with his mother and father), "Information Technology: Tomorrow's Advantage Today" (with Peter Keen), "Excelling in Finance," and more than 40 books within the "I-Series." �He has also written numberous articles appearing in such journals as Communications of the ACM, Soio-Economic Planning Siences, the International Journal of Systems Science, Managerial and Decision Economics, Applied Economics, and the Australian Journal of Management.

Maeve Cummings is a professor of Information Systems at Pittsburg State University. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.B.A. from Pittsburg State, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has published in various journals including the Journal of Global Information Management and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. She serves on various editorial boards and is a coauthor of two concepts books within the I-Series. Maeve has been teaching for 20 years and lives in Pittsburg, Kansas, with her husband, Slim.

About the Author
Michael Levy, PhD, is the Charles Clarke Reynolds Professor of Marketing and Director of the Retail Supply Chain Institute at Babson College. He received his PhD in business administration from The Ohio State University and his undergraduate and MS degrees in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He taught at Southern Methodist University before joining the faculty as professor and chair of the marketing department at the University of Miami. Professor Levy has developed a strong stream of research in retailing, business logistics, financial retailing strategy, pricing, and sales management. He has published over 50 articles in leading marketing and logistics journals, including the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of Marketing Research. He currently serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Logistics and Materials Management, ECR Journal, and European Business Review. He is coauthor of Retailing Management, 6e (2007), the best-selling college-level retailing text in the world. Professor Levy was co-editor of Journal of Retailing from 2001–2007. Professor Levy has worked in retailing and related disciplines throughout his professional life. Prior to his academic career, he worked for several retailers and a housewares distributor in Colorado. He has performed research projects with many retailers and retail technology firms, including Accenture, Federated Department Stores, Khimetrics, Mervyn’s, Neiman Marcus, ProfitLogic (Oracle), Zale Corporation, and numerous law firms. He co-chaired the 1993 Academy of Marketing Science conference and the 2006 Summer AMA conference.

Dhruv Grewal, PhD (Virginia Tech), is the Toyota Chair in Commerce and Electronic Business and a professor of marketing at Babson College. His research and teaching interests focus on marketing foundations, marketing research, retailing, pricing, and value-based strategies. He was awarded the 2005 Lifetime Achievement in Behavioral Pricing Award by Fordham University. He is a “Distinguished Fellow” of the Academy of Marketing Science. He has also coauthored Marketing Research (2004, 2007). Professor Grewal has published over 70 articles in journals such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Retailing, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He currently serves on numerous editorial review boards, including Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. He served as co-editor of Journal of Retailing from 2001–2007. Professor Grewal has won many awards for his teaching including, 2005 Sherwin-Williams Distinguished Teaching Award, SMA; 2003 AMA Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education; 1999 AMS Great Teachers in Marketing Award; Executive MBA Teaching Excellence Award (1998); School of Business Teaching Excellence Awards (1993, 1999); and Virginia Tech Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Teaching (1989). He co-chaired: 1993 AMS Conference, 1998 Winter AMA Conference, a 1998 Marketing Science Institute Conference, 2001 AMA doctoral consortium, and 2006 Summer AMA Conference. Professor Grewal has taught executive seminars and courses and/or worked on research projects with numerous firms, such as IRI, TJX, Radio Shack, Monsanto, McKinsey, Motorola, and numerous law firms. He has taught seminars in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Missing the access code card.

The book arrived brand new and arrived fine, however I did not receive a "code" card so that I can access online homework assignments and quizzes. I now have to pay $50 to access this from the book company.

the book was in very good condition. One word of caution

Overall, the book was in very good condition. One word of caution. If you have a class that requires you access the lessons on-line, you will need a code. The used copy does not have it, only the new one. Otherwise, it costs around $90 to access the on-line materials if you do not have the code.

What is the Rosetta Stone?
Hieroglyphs are the written symbols that were used by scribes in ancient Egypt. While they appear to be pictures, or pictographs, they usually stood for sounds, or phonetics.

The hieroglyphic system of writing vanished from Egypt by about the fifth century A.D., and with it all knowledge of how to translate the complex symbols. Then, in 1799, a Frenchman in Rosetta, Egypt—now called Rashid—discovered a black granite stone from the second century B.C. that bore inscriptions in Egyptian hieroglyphic, Egyptian demotic (common script), and Greek. By comparing the symbols in the three different writing systems, he was able to begin to decipher the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, revealing a text written by priests in honor of the pharaoh.

This is a fabulous book. I recommend it for bright kids age 8 and up, and for normal-avera.ge kids age 10-12 and up

I recommend it for bright kids age 8 and up, and for normal-average kids age 10-12 and up. Whutz so gr8 is u can pick it up for and read it for 2-3 minutes or an hour. Fascinating topics, and a quick read.

since no one has all the answers

it was a Christmas present for ta 13 year old who is a voracious reader. She said that she really liked it and I don't think she was just humoring me. I thought it would be a small start at helping her see that Wikipedia, as useful as it is, is not the final authority on all things and that using another source to double check is a good habit to cultivate.

About the Author

David Herres is the owner and operator of a residential and commercial construction company. He obtained a Journeyman Electrician’s License in 1975, and has certificates in welding and wetland delineation, along with experience with elevators. Beginning in 2001, Mr. Herres has focused primarily on electrical work, upgrading his license to Master status. He is the author of two McGraw-Hill Professional titles, The 2011 National Electrical Code: Chapter-by-Chapter and Troubleshooting and Repairing Commercial Electrical Equipment, to be published in July, 2013.

Great Learning Resource and Reference

Competent, reliable electricians are hard to come by where I live (almost as hard as good plumbers); jobs in both trades ought to be easy to find and create for the person with the proper training. This book fits the bill for aspiring electricians waiting to serve the public need, and that need has never been greater than it is today.

Ironically, I called several electricians just before I wrote this review, because I would like to have a generator installed that will power my entire home the next time the electric utility power fails. The way things are going this winter, I figure on having at least a half dozen extended power failures, if not more. It was hard to find an electrician who wanted to take on the job! I did finally find one, but it took several phone calls to do it.

Demand exceeds supply in this field.

Buy this book, train yourself, learn all about the electrician's trade, and then please, please, please come on out to the Black Hills of Dakota Territory and set up shop. You're sure to get rich in a hurry as long as you show up on time and do the work right!

I found this book informative for my personal use, even though I am not a licensed electrician and don't plan to become one. I like to do small jobs with my own home wiring, but of course I want to do things according to code, and I want to stay alive so as to reap the rewards of my labors. The book is well organized and I had an easy time finding all the information I needed.

Highly recommended, especially for (as the cover says) aspiring electricians!

Great learning material

This book has a strong focus on the National Electrical Code. The use of quizes at the end of each chapter and a practice exam make learning the material a breeze. Fortunately, answers to the quizzes are also contained in the book.

The book covers all aspects of the electronics trade, including recent developments like PVs and wind turbines.

If you are studying for the National Electrical Code, then this is a very useful book to have.

The Kindle Version has problems.

The "Kindle book" is a mess. The only thing I can figure out about it is that the procedure from converting the book to the Kindle format went failed. Tables called out in the next are absent, there is no linear narrative to the chapters, etc.
